Sigmundshall (2017-2018)

The potash mine „Sigmundshall“ in Wunstorf close to Hannover produces potash since 1898 - it is the last producing potash mine in Lower Saxony. The geothermic conditions cause temperatures easily over 50° C in depths up to 1500 m. The miners working in these conditions drink up to 7 l in a workshift of 8 h. Breaks take place in containers cooled down to 30° C, standing in the sureal, white tunnelsystem of more than 350 km. A story about the people working under these conditions every day. Sigmundshall will shut down the production end 2018.
